The PrideWorks Conference brings together educators, parents, students and youth workers to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and address the problem of anti-LGBT bias in Westchester County and the surrounding area. Each year, this full day conference gets rave reviews and grows in size and breadth with students accounting for almost 50% of the 600 people who attend.
While many LGBT youth have more protection and support than eight years ago, some are still abandoned by their families, harassed in their schools, and experience high rates of alcohol and other drug use. The opportunity to speak out, listen and learn at the PrideWorks Conference is extremely valuable for these young people to find their voices and courage to make positive changes in their communities.
PrideWorks will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The program runs from 8 am until 3:30 pm. For more information, call (914) 962-7888 or www.glsenhudsonvalley.org
