From keeping our children safe from predators to keeping our families safe in emergencies, Westchester County is there to help you feel competent and prepared no matter what the situation.
The county's
Protect the Kids Committee has developed programs to protect children from sexual predators. Educator Norman Friedman presents two workshops designed to teach parents methods to protect their children:
Innoculating our Children Against Sexual Abuse and Preventing Abduction. Mr. Friedman, in association with the PTK committee, will present these programs for schools and community groups free of charge.
Westchester County has also adopted the
Code Adam child-finding system in all of its parks and county facilities. Code Adam was created and promoted by the Wal-Mart® retail stores. It is named in memory of 6-year-old Adam Walsh whose 1981 abduction from a Florida shopping mall and subsequent murder brought child abduction to national attention.Code Adam has helped to find hundreds of children.
