Medical Center Honors Idoni
Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni receives Marie F. Vitt Humanitarian Award from Sound Shore Medical Center
March 16, 2007: On Friday, March 2, 2007, over three hundred people gathered at the New York Athletic Club in Pelham Manor as Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni was presented with the Marie Vitt Humanitarian Award in recognition of his service to the community and on the Board of Governors of the Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester. John R. Spicer, President of Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester also presented awards to co-honorees Fenizia Maffucci and Susie McEvoy. The Marie F. Vitt Award is presented annually in recognition of individuals who demonstrate a true commitment to Marie Vitts legacy of volunteerism, philanthropy, and service to the community.
"Having high quality, accessible and affordable health care right in the heart of New Rochelle is such a benefit as the City of New Rochelle continues to move forward" said Idoni, the former Mayor of New Rochelle and current Westchester County Clerk. "In addition, Sound Shore Medical Center is one of New Rochelle's largest employers, providing jobs close to home for so many city residents." As Mayor, Idoni was a vocal, visible and active supporter of the medical center who promoted the center throughout the community and fought for appropriate I.D.A. financing to secure the hospital. He was pleased to be invited to remain on the Board of Directors of the medical center upon becoming Westchester County Clerk and continue his commitment to ensuring that Sound Shore remains a viable part of the fabric of the community.
