As of April 1, 2008, the Office of the Westchester County Clerk will begin accepting tax certiorari matters via the New York State Courts E-Filing (NYSCEF) system. E-Filing will enable attorneys to file court documents from the convenience of their office or from any place with an internet connection at any time of day or night, 365 days a year. Service of e-filed documents is performed automatically via e-mail. When filing fees are paid via credit card at the time of e-filing, the file date of the document is the time of transmission, even if the Office of the County Clerk has already closed for the day. There is no cost to use the system, though regular filing fees remain the same and can be paid via credit card or via check at the Office of the County Clerk.
E-Filing is an easy and convenient way to file documents with the Supreme Court in Westchester County. The Office of the Westchester County Clerk, in conjunction with the Office of Court Administration and the Westchester County Supreme Court, will be offering a free CLE class on e-filing tax certiorari cases on Thursday, March 20 from 6pm - 8pm in the Central Jury Room of the Richard J. Daronco Courthouse in White Plains. There will be more e-filing classes offered periodically in the near future. For more information, please call Eileen Songer McCarthy at (914)995-4287.
