E-File (Tax Certiorari & UCCs)
The Office of the Westchester County Clerk has begun accepting certain E-Filed documents in an effort to make it more convenient for Westchester County residents to conduct business with us, while reducing the amount of paper coming into our office.

E-Filing is a simple process and provides many benefits to the user, as well as the County.  File at any hour of the day, even when the Office of the Westchester County Clerk is closed.  Documents can be conveniently filed from one’s home or office or even while on vacation – anywhere that an internet connection is available!  There are no additional fees for E-Filing, other than the statutorily mandated filing fees for the particular document type, and the fees can be easily paid via credit card.  Once the documents have been filed, the submitter receives a notice of filing via e-mail.

As of April 1, 2008, the Office of the Westchester County Clerk has begun accepting Tax Certiorari case filings via the New York State Courts E-Filing (NYSCEF) system.  When the filing fees are paid online via credit card, the date of filing is the date of transmission, even if the office has already closed for the day.  Once both parties have agreed to E-File documents in the case, all service is done electronically.  Currently we are only able to accept Tax Certiorari cases via E-Filing, but Tort and Commercial cases are in the planning and development stages.

As of Monday, June 2, 2008, the Office of the Westchester County Clerk will begin accepting Uniform Commercial Code filings (UCC’s) via E-Filing.  The system replicates the standard UCC forms exactly and is just as easy as filing a paper UCC, without having to deliver the physical copy to this office.  Additionally, the system is able to recognize many mistakes and omissions in the filing.  The number of rejected filings is reduced by alerting the user of problems and preventing the submission of deficient documents until recognized errors are corrected.
