In Westchester County, our county judges determine whether a pistol permit will be issued. And the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Pistol License Unit conducts the investigation necessary to assist the court in determining whether a pistol permit should be issued. The Office of the Weschester County Clerk supports both the court and the Department of Public Safety by accepting pistol permit applications and maintaining records of issued pistol permits.
